About You

5+ years of experience in construction project management, with focus on multi-family or commercial projects. A degree in Construction Science, Construction Engineering or similar or/ equivalent work experience is required. Candidates with proven experience to manage multiple projects at once will be given priority. Software proficiency in the following is expected: Outlook, Excel, Bluebeam, Adobe, Procore, PlanGrid, AutoCAD, and Primavera P6/MS Project/other Construction scheduling software.

About the Job

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) provides overall management direction for structured concrete projects. The APM is responsible for establishing project objectives through effective planning and monitoring all construction activity in collaboration with the project Superintendent. They are responsible for production results of the project, as well as safety on the project. We offer a competitive base salary, a strong bonus program, and a generous benefits package. Duties (including but not limited to):

Responsible for Pre-Construction Duties: Works with Project Manager to plan project sequencing, equipment, manpower, etc. Examine the scope of work and reviews contract drawings and project specifications to fully understand the project requirements.

Coordinates Project Start-Up Process: Facilitates project operations start-up. Provides input on project staffing plans. Schedules and facilitates pre-con meetings with the Superintendent, client representative(s), testing lab representative(s), subcontractors, and suppliers.

Collaborates with the Project Team to:

  • Maintain weekly a detailed/critical path project schedule to support construction process, updated on a weekly basis (at minimum)
  • Collect production data daily by project specific work breakdown structure (WBS)
  • Submit all material tickets for the project
  • Communicate project needs to greater Project Management team
  • Develop shop drawings when required


Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Project Management Support:

  • Coordinate Architectural, Structural, and Civil drawings
  • Review project constructability with Superintendent and PM
  • Create RFIs for discrepancies and maintain RFIs in Procore
  • Collect and distribute three-week lookahead schedules from superintendents
  • Distribute latest drawings to Rebar, PT and formwork drafters through Procore
  • Review project specifications and submit all required items for approval
  • Review and submit Rebar, PT and Formwork Shop drawings
  • Update drawings in the Office Trailers and save latest drawings in Procore
  • Prepare stressing log and review stressing results
  • Collect and distribute formwork stripping letters
  • Submit Project specific Safety Program(s), Operator Licenses, Rigging and Spotter Licenses, OSHA cards and Quality control plan(s) as required
  • Update Concrete Breakdown by Element and by Pour
  • Review weekly labor chart, MH/CY and $/CY Estimates and Actuals
  • Collect & compile signed field change directives to submit to the PM
  • Complete price change requests based on signed change directives
  • Review timesheets and coding for field personnel
  • Fill out concrete and gravel usage forms and attach delivery tickets while recording both estimated amounts and actual amounts
  • Collect and code all other delivery tickets and submit them to AC Office
  • Prepare accident reports and submit them to GC and AC offices in a timely manner
  • Support the Superintendents with the daily reports.
  • Prepare bill of lading from the job sites to the vendors (equipment rental) / AC yards
  • Collect and compile third party concrete break results.
  • Check all deliveries against bills of lading and report any/all discrepancies

Yard Support:

  • Assist in the scheduling of material and equipment delivery dates, per Superintendent and Yard Manager
  • Assist the Yard Manager in procuring and tracking equipment status (small tools and machinery)

Physical Requirements of the Job:

Ability to communicate orally in person and over devices with peers, vendors, contractors, clients, and construction workers is crucial. Regular use of mobile devices (talking or texting) and email for communication is essential and required for everyday tasks. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and prepare, inspect, or review documents. A pre-employment drug test is required for all personnel. Daily job duties and responsibilities require the ability to: remain in a stationary position, move about an office and/or work site efficiently, and move between locations (office, work sites, vendors, etc) frequently. Physical requirements include: the ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs on occasion, regular exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force, occasional heavy lifting (30+ lb. / 13.6+ kg), and good manual dexterity for use of common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copiers).
