Under minimal supervision from the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for general site management of project; assists in supervising subcontract employees and provides overall support to Superintendent.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities
• Assist Superintendent in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, equipment requirement, etc.
• Monitor work performance and productivity of craft personnel to ensure project rules, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained
• Advise Superintendent and/or Project Manager of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc.; assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required
• Maintain liaison with other departments, i.e. Estimating, Accounting, as requires to support construction schedule
• On smaller projects, may supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, other contractors, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Building Science, Engineering or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience;
• Minimum five years’ experience in Construction industry
• Working knowledge of various Construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings and other documents required
• Ability to manage multiple activities/projects, meet multiple deadlines
• Ability to effectively supervise craft personnel performance
• Basic computer skills required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid, and CPR training required
• Availability and ability to travel
Working Conditions
• Normal on-site field work. Evening and/or weekend work. Travel required.
Typical Physical Needs:
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. May need to climb stairs and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
