Job Summary
The Aviation Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of engineering design for airports and municipal projects, including CAD production, Civil 3D, stormwater management, cost estimating, specification writing, and construction field observation. This role requires adherence to government regulations to ensure airport facilities comply with all applicable codes. The engineer must uphold professional ethics and engineering standards. Additional duties may be assigned by the manager as needed.
 
Responsibilities
  • Analyzes project costs; and provides technical advice for design problems.
  • Plans engineering drawings and specifications, production of engineering investigations.
  • Analyzes technical problems and devising new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Prepares and oversees the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules and budgets.
  • Is responsible for quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, ICPR, Word and Outlook.
  • Advanced math and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer software.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace. 
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (P. E.) license preferred or EIT certification with 4+ years of related experience.
  • Aviation experience is preferred. Candidates without aviation experience must have expertise in civil site design, roadway design, and drainage. 
 Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
 
Expected Hours of Work 
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule. This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office 5 days per week, with some weekend work as needed.
