Big-D Construction has opportunities for various internships in the following states:

• Arizona - FE, PE or Estimating Internships
• Utah - FE, PE, Estimating or VDC Internships
• Minnesota - FE, PE or Estimating Internships

Qualifications:

• Required: Junior or Senior within Construction Management, Engineering or other related fields
• Must have good interpersonal and teamwork skills and a desire to learn.
• Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

In the internship you will have hands on experience with the following:

FE/PE Internship:

• Construction scheduling with 3-week look ahead.
• Keep up to date on submittals, RFIs and responses, project changes and work progress.
• Keep up to date on construction drawings and as-builts.
• Provide the required up-to-date copies of drawings and specifications to subcontractors.
• Distribute RFI responses to all appropriate subcontractors and/or suppliers.
• Update construction drawings with change documents and RFI responses and maintains RFI log.
• Process submittals and change orders.
• Request proposal and other contract document changes from subcontractors with changes, reviews with project team, and distributes to appropriate subcontractors.
• MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook, and document editing software (e.g., BlueBeam, Adobe Acrobat, etc.)
• Use CAD software.

Estimating Internship:

• Assist in preparation of proposals and presentations for potential clients
• Assemble big packages
• Attend preconstruction meetings
• Assist in preparing quantity take-offs, cost estimating and creating bid packages
• Attend site visits to better understand project requirements
• Interact with preconstruction team, operations and other internal team members to ensure deadlines are met

VDC Internship:

• Hands-on working with Building Information Models on Construction and/or Design Projects
• Attend BIM coordination meetings
• Assist in managing and maintaining the BIM Coordination Generated Model
• Work closely with project teams and subcontractors through BIM Coordination process
• Collaborate with other VDC team members and participate in meetings.
