Job Purpose

The Accounting Manager will serve as a liaison between our North American and South American accounting teams. This role is crucial in ensuring that our accounting processes are aligned and that internal controls are established and maintained to address current gaps. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish and English, with Portuguese as a bonus.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Liaison Role: Act as the primary point of contact between the North American and South American accounting teams to ensure seamless communication and process alignment.
  • Process Alignment: Develop and implement strategies to align accounting processes across regions, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Internal Controls: Identify gaps in current processes and establish robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Create variance analysis for actuals and forecast, understand FX impact by country and to the US, and input actuals and forecast into Planful.
  • Audit Coordination: Partner with external auditors to manage quarterly audit requests and ensure timely completion.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including IT and procurement, to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis to support decision-making and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • SAP Implementation: Assist in SAP implementations for South American entities not currently on SAP, ensuring smooth transitions and integration.
  • Intercompany Reconciliations: Ensure intercompany reconciliations are completed and coordinate communication with entities involved in the transactions.
  • Account Reconciliations: Assist South American teams establish account reconciliations and implement them into the existing Blackline system.
  • Compliance Analysis: Analyze and interpret the differences between statutory requirements and US GAAP to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting.

What do I need to be successful?

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvement.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish and English required; proficiency in Portuguese is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and SAP
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and regions.
  • Experience in a multinational company.
  • Familiarity with both North American and South American accounting standards and practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing process improvements and internal controls.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

Work Environment

  • This position will work at home and in our Nashville office on a hybrid schedule
  • Must live within a commutable distance to Nashville or willing to relocate to the greater Nashville area
  • Travel to South American and North American countries will be required as needed but will be less than 15% of the time.
