Position Overview
The Bookkeeper plays a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting calm, informed decision-making within the business. This position works closely with leadership and external accounting partners to ensure day-to-day financial records are current, organized, and reliable.
This is not a transactional data-entry role. Gill Construction is looking for someone who understands construction accounting fundamentals and approaches bookkeeping as a disciplined operational function-balancing accuracy, ownership, and structure.
This is an on-site position working directly with company leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Recordkeeping
- Record and categorize transactions in QuickBooks Online
- Maintain receipt management through Dext
- Ensure vendor and expense records are organized and current
Reconciliation & Job Cost Tracking
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Align job cost data between QuickBooks and JobTread
- Identify discrepancies and resolve or escalate appropriately
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage vendor payments using Bill.com
- Track accounts payable and receivable
- Prepare payment summaries for approval
Payroll Administration
- Process and support payroll through Gusto
- Ensure payroll entries are accurately recorded in QuickBooks
- Maintain payroll records and compliance documentation
Reporting & Internal Support
- Prepare recurring financial reports
- Provide visibility into cash position and project costs
- Help refine and improve financial processes
Qualifications
- 3+ years of bookkeeping and payroll experience
- QuickBooks Online proficiency is highly required
- Proficiency in Dext, Bill.com, and Gusto is preferred but not required
- Experience in construction or a job-costing environment strongly preferred
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Professional communication skills

Work Environment
