As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting problems every day. We are seeking a Business Intelligence & Analytics Engineer to join our growing Data team. This hands-on role focuses on developing skills and delivering tangible value through reporting, dashboards, and data pipelines.
Primary Function:
You'll collaborate with senior engineers and business stakeholders to transform raw data into actionable insights. Responsibilities include writing SQL queries, building dbt models, troubleshooting data issues, and supporting reporting across teams such as underwriting, claims, and finance. This early-career position is ideal for individuals with 2+ years of experience in a technical role or those transitioning into data analytics with a solid foundation in analytics and a desire to grow.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write and run SQL to pull, clean, and validate data
- Build and test dbt models to support data pipelines
- Create and maintain dashboards in Power BI or Sigma Computing
- Support the monthly reporting processes as needed, including data prep and delivery
- Collaborate with engineers and business users to understand reporting needs
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning
- Document data logic, definitions, and business rules
- Support ad hoc reporting and data requests from key business functions
- Troubleshoot issues with data quality, dashboards, and pipeline performance
- Contribute to peer reviews and QA processes for analytics work
- Additional responsibilities as needed

- Insurance industry experience preferred but not required
- Proficiency with SQL
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI, Sigma, or Tableau

Disclosures:
Pay Estimate: $ 80,000 - $125,000/year
Other compensation: annual incentive program
