THE BASICS | Primary Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
The basic function of the Buyer at Live Oak is to manage inventory levels and negotiate costs to ensure the company meets or exceeds established sales and profit goals
BASIC DUTIES
- Develop, implement and execute purchasing strategies to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained at all times to support demand.
- Generate purchase orders and track lead time to ensure timely receipt of inventory.
- Review and follow up with suppliers on outstanding purchase orders to update ship dates.
- Become point of contact for sales team on all special orders.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Manager to evaluate and monitor contracts to be sure suppliers comply with the terms and conditions of the contract and determine need for change.
- Source alternate suppliers to offset potential delivery, capacity, quality and costing issues with primary suppliers.
BASIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES
- Must be self-motivated, have the ability to organize daily routine and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Advanced knowledge of math and critical thinking skills.
- Work closely with all departments as an integral member of a team.
