Direct Supervisor: Superintendent
Qualifications: A Carpenter I (Entry- Level) is required to help experienced workers by performing routine tasks such as loading and unloading materials and preparing and cleaning the worksite for projects. They usually need to learn from other workers how to do more difficult tasks such as using special equipment and tools. In the Carpenter I role, employees learn carpentry basics, blue print reading, mathematics, building code requirements, and safety and first-aid practices. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience Requirements: 0-2 years as a Carpenter. Typically, a Carpenter I will need to acquire three to four years of experience learning from Journey Level Carpenters before the potential of advancing to a Carpenter II (Journey-Level).
Tool Requirements: Applicants are required to have in their possession and maintain their own tools relevant to their job.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: good eye-hand coordination including usage of one or both left and right hands/arms to work bilaterally and/or independently to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects; normal or correctable to normal vision and hearing; ability to kneel, crouch, climb, balance, crawl, bend, stretch, twist, reach, stand, sit and walk on frequent basis; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on frequent basis. FLSA Status: This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay.
Wages/Benefits: Successful applicant will be paid a competitive wage with actual starting wage dependent on his/her qualifications, experience, and capabilities. Some benefits are available to full-time, regular employees after successful completion of the Introductory Period and these benefits will be explained at time of interview.
