About this position:

The Central Construction Infrastructure Engineer provides engineering support for natural gas and underground cable infrastructure replacement projects, along with other initiatives as specified by the Asset Management group. This role involves engineering and managing construction projects aimed at maintaining and enhancing the reliability of our distribution infrastructure. Additionally, the Engineer will contribute to capital forecasting, reporting, business processes, and quality control to ensure full compliance with project objectives.

About this job:

  • Provide engineering support for the Distribution natural gas and underground cable replacement projects
  • Design gas and underground electric facilities following the Capital Business Processes
  • Supervise projects and oversee contract and company construction crews
  • Perform computer related functions such as engineering analysis, drawing, spreadsheets, and database compilations
  • Survey and inspect existing utilities
  • Ensure that cost estimates meet company standards and current tariffs
  • Assist to develop project-specific capital budgets
  • Assist and work closely with Division operations
  • Provide proactive customer project awareness and investigates and resolves customer concerns including field investigations
  • Participates in forecast and management of the capital and expenses budget with emphasis on cost optimization
  • Most job time is spent in office environment, with some exposure to field environment & weather
  • Complete on-call after-hours duties, periodically, for one week at a time; this requires the individual to reside in the greater metro area; includes response to emergency situations and calling personnel out for after-hours activities
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 35 pounds required
  • Statewide travel up to 10% and extended hours may be required

Am I right for this job? Here's the success profile:

  • Must have a B.S. degree in Engineering
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer's License is preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience in construction and design preferred
  • Experience with SAP and DDS is preferred
  • Knowledge of International Fuel Gas Code, NESC, NEC, and the DOT. Part 191 and 192 is preferred
  • General understanding of survey and inspection techniques and microprocessor-based equipment preferred
  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
