In addition to supporting the implementation and operation of reality capture, including 360 photography, LiDAR scanning, and UAV operations, on projects across the enterprise, this position leads layout and field verification efforts using innovative field technologies.  The Field Technology Engineer should be flexible, detail-oriented individual that will thrive performing in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with ability to multi-task, produce quality deliverables, and meet project-based deadlines. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform data collection using LiDAR scanners, UAV, and 360 cameras
  • Perform field layout and verification using innovative technologies
  • Verify subcontractor and self-perform layout using innovative technologies
  • Follow safety procedures and SOPs while performing reality capture services
  • Ability to lift/carry equipment (10-30 pounds)
  • Stand and work on feet majority of the day in a construction environment
  • Utilize independent judgement, problem-solving ability, and prioritization based on relevant factors
  • Good communication skills to articulate challenges, potential reality capture use-cases, and success stories to internal and external clients
  • Able to read and understand construction documents, shop drawings and plans
  • Must be dependable and responsible
  • Ability to quickly learn new hardware/software tools and teach others
  • Serve as an ambassador for CFT efforts and services internally/externally and collaborate with project teams
  • Travel at up to 50% of the time, to various construction sites; plan and execute multiple projects daily
  • Ability to work flexible hours due to project or site constraints, including occasional early, late, or weekend hours

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years relevant construction experience
  • Associate's degree or professional course work in construction management, engineering, architecture, surveying, or similar field a plus
  • Experience in construction layout
  • Preferred knowledge of LiDAR hardware/software
  • Preferred experience with robotic total stations
  • Preferred knowledge of surveying
  • Preferred OSHA certifications (i.e.:  10-hour, 30-hour)
  • Experience with construction management related applications such as Bluebeam, Procore, or other similar software systems
  • Experience with VDC technologies such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other similar software systems
  • Past reality capture experience is a plus
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot license is a plus

Special Job Dimensions

The office provides a safe and healthy work environment, is adequately heated and cooled, is free from exposure and extreme conditions, has appropriate lighting and office furnishings, and is smoke-free and drug-free.  While performing the duties of this position in the fabrication shop, warehouse, maintenance shop or at a project site, the employee could be regularly exposed to any number of the following, including, but not limited to:  moving mechanical parts; moving machinery; high, precarious places (including, but not limited to, being raised several hundred feet in a bucket); close tight quarters; rough and sloped terrain; fumes or airborne particles; drilling and blasting activities; welding activities; toxic or caustic chemicals; the potential of falling rock; and outside weather conditions.  The employee may be occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
