The Garrett Companies is seeking to hire a Full-Time Civil Engineering Manager to work out of the  office in Indianapolis, Denver or Nashville.   As the Civil Engineering Manager, you will assist the Development Team by overseeing the civil/site and environmental engineering consultants during of the multifamily development process from site identification through completion of construction activities. In this position, your primary tasks are to be a resource to the development team in due diligence efforts and securing necessary entitlements in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Consultants & Design Engineers: Secure proposals for Geotechnical Engineers, Environmental Engineers, and Civil Engineers. Provide design direction based on Company standards and financial obligations to ensure quality and timeliness of civil and environmental scopes of work to meet the needs of the Company, partners, and public regulatory agencies.    
  • Entitlement - Work with Development staff, in-house legal counsel and other members of the project team to identify and solve site development and/or construction issues.  Work includes site feasibility studies, environmental and geotechnical investigations, traffic and parking studies, landscape coordination, utility evaluations, and assisting with conceptual site planning.  Participate in entitlement meetings and other hearings with regulatory review agencies to secure desired outcome.
  • Coordinate Approvals - Coordinate submittal of engineering documents for sitework, utilities and roadways to appropriate regulatory review agencies for approval and work to resolve differences and secure timely approval.
  • At Risk Budgets - Assist Development team to prepare and maintain Project entitlement budgets
  • Reporting - Provide project updates, schedules, and reports as required.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Director of Civil Engineering
  • Be a problem solver. As a member of the Development team of The Garrett Companies, we solve problems.  Proactive management is key to this important position.
  • All other duties as assigned by The Garrett Companies.
Requirements
  • 5 years engineering experience in civil/site and environmental engineering field, site planning and design.
  • 4 years of experience supervising projects and/or managing work products of other engineers.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of Civil and Environmental Engineering, land surveying and other segments of Engineering related to land development.
  • Previous experience managing multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Relentless problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to anticipate.

Travel Requirements
  • Some travel will be required in this role.
  • Overnight travel could be expected depending on needs of the project.
