NOVA Engineering is seeking a CMT Field & Lab Technician to join our Athens, GA office. This position involves performing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) testing of construction materials in both field and laboratory settings. The ideal candidate is motivated, safety-conscious, and interested in building a long-term career in construction materials testing.

This role is open to entry-level candidates, and NOVA provides on-the-job training and support for obtaining industry certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform field QA/QC testing of construction materials including soil, concrete, masonry, rebar, and asphalt in accordance with ASTM, ACI, and project specifications
  • Conduct basic laboratory testing of soil and concrete materials and prepare accurate test reports
  • Collect samples and perform observations/inspections on active construction sites
  • Document field and lab activities using tablets or mobile devices and submit complete daily reports
  • Communicate test results and field observations with Project Managers, engineers, contractors, and clients
  • Assist with maintaining, calibrating, and caring for field and laboratory testing equipment
  • Follow all company safety policies and project-specific safety requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding field work
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Preferred Certifications and Experience (Not Required):

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
  • ACI Aggregate Testing Technician
  • ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level I
  • ICC special inspector certifications (Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Masonry)
  • Prior CMT field and laboratory testing experience
Entry-Level Candidates Welcome to Apply:

  • NOVA provides on-the-job training and supports technicians in obtaining certifications such as ACI, ICC, and GDOT

Work Environment:

  • Combination of field, laboratory, and occasional office work
