Wharton-Smith, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Collaborative Delivery Preconstruction Engineer to work at our headquarters in the Sanford, FL area.
Primary responsibilities:
Works directly with the Preconstruction Services Manager and Operations Managers to manage all aspects from projects from award to GMP
Management of project documents, correspondence, meeting agendas/minutes, and bidding process.
Contribute to proposal and presentations as required
Establish and maintain client relationships, leveraging those relationships to assist the Company in preparing for upcoming proposals
Estimating review on design phase cost estimates
Ability to read drawings, geo-tech reports and specifications.
Manage areas of identified project risk and work with the design team to generate solutions to eliminate or reduce risk to all parties
Attend regular progress and milestone meetings with all stakeholders
Review engineering deliverables and provide meaningful and well-organized feedback in a timely manner.
Solicit Subcontractor/Supplier participation in bidding
Provide owner/engineer with innovation solutions to maintain project budget and objectives.
Understanding of preconstruction phase schedule and coordinate with operations to develop construction phase schedule. Experience with P6 is desired.
Develop and write GMP bid packages
Proficient in scope analysis, ability to estimate deficiencies as needed.
Compile project bids to generate the project budget (GMP)
Compliance with project funding requirements.
Communicate with operations regularly to ensure project schedules meet the needs of the company and all promises made to the owner can be fulfilled.
Projects ranging from 4 Million to 300 Million.
Developing and maintaining long-term beneficial relationships with key vendors and subcontractors.
Participate in pre and post-construction reviews.
Assist Manager with maintaining preconstruction project financials including Wharton-Smith costs, subcontract and vendor costs, engineering costs, and billings to the client to maintain healthy cash flow.
Technical skills:
Regular travel, within geographic region, as required to meet the demands of the position including in-person meetings with clients and engineers as well as travel to Wharton-Smith’s corporate or regional offices.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Utilize all Wharton-Smith tools to maintain a well-organized and well-documented project, including comprehensive meeting agendas and minutes.
Provide weekly reporting on progress of all projects and provide early identification of potential issues or delays.
Maintain a clear status on all project action items for all team members to access
Establish and maintain hard deadlines for deliverables.
Qualifications:
3 years Water/Wastewater construction or design experience.
Understanding of funding compliance.
Previous experience with Hard Bid or Collaborative Delivery Municipal Water/Wastewater Projects.
Ability to understand construction terminology.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Valid Driver's License and ability to commute to job sites.
