    Position:                           College and Career Counselor  

    Reports to:                       Director of Counseling and Student Development

    Qualifications:                 Illinois Professional Educator License School Service Personnel Certificate (formally Type 73)SCOU -School Counselor Endorsement

    Salary:                              Per agreement between Reavis High School District 220 Board of Education and Federation of Teachers, Local 1951

    Essential Functions of the Position (not limited to):

    • Be an active and contributing member of the Counseling Department PLC

      • Prepare and deliver units within the Ram Ready curriculum

      • Provide post-secondary programming for students

    • Serve as the FAFSA Coordinator

      • This will include: ISAC and Advisory presentations and workshops for both students and parents; and management of GAP Access. 

    • Work closely with the following teachers: career-based learning, special education work experience programs, and tier II/III intervention programs to assist students in securing career-based learning experiences (e.g. apprenticeship, internship, etc.).

    • Develop and secure successful partnerships between Reavis High School and industry partners.

    • Work to develop career-based volunteer and field trip experiences.

    • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate and develop programs to educate all stakeholders about career pathways, internship programs, employability skills, etc. (e.g., Job Fair, Internship Panels, Career Options Night, and Career Exploratory events, etc.)

    • Collaborate with other AERO College and Career counselors in the planning and implementation of the annual AERO college and career fair.

    • Develop and maintain a current and comprehensive occupational library including information on careers and career clusters, employment prospects and trends and employment requirements and opportunities; obtain and circulate current college catalogs. 

    • Update local job listings in SchooLinks.

    • Coordinate a minimum of one (1) Career Chat panel per month by: contacting, scheduling, and arranging guest speakers from partners representing various pathways, promote the event, schedule students to attend, and moderate the panel. 

    • Schedule visitations by representatives from local colleges; organize, coordinate and publicize college & career-related events and other opportunities for students to learn about higher education and vocational training and preparation. 

      • Work directly with teachers and Division Chairs to coordinate college and career related classroom guest speakers.

    • Coordinate and chaperone a minimum of one (1) college and one (1) career/industry field trip per semester.

    • Propose and coordinate parent and family universities related to college and career readiness.  

    • Prepare the school profile and an annual report on the post high school plans of graduates. 

    • Send out monthly Counseling Department newsletter to stakeholders (parents, students, staff, Board of Education).

    • Represent District 220 on the Moraine Area Career Systems (MACS) Counselor Advisory Committee

    • Serve as the Moraine Valley Community College Liaison

      • This will include: 

        • Assisting teachers and students with dual credit enrollments

        • Working with teachers/students to track Industry Credentials

        • Serving as the primary Dual Enrollment Coordinator 

          • Meet weekly with Dually Enrolled students

        • Working with the RHS MACS AC representative to create Advisory groups for all approved pathways

        • Working with CTEI/PERKINS grant coordinator to budget for career related events

    • Coordinate Military Week and Decision Day events 

    • Coordinate and promote College Boot Camp 

    • Assist with registration and course selection

    • May perform other duties as directed
