Job Purpose

This position is responsible for supporting daily field operations on active commercial construction projects. The Commercial Construction General Laborer plays a key role in jobsite setup, cleanup, material handling, site protection, basic field support, and maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and productive work environment. This role supports the Superintendent, Foreman, project team, subcontractors, and trade partners by completing assigned tasks, following safety requirements, assisting with jobsite logistics, and helping ensure construction activities progress according to project needs, quality expectations, schedule requirements, and 3i standards.

Jobsite Support & Field Coordination

  • Support the Superintendent, Foreman, project team, subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners with daily jobsite coordination and field support tasks
  • Assist with daily jobsite setup, cleanup, organization, housekeeping, and removal of trash, debris, and unused materials
  • Load, unload, move, stage, and protect construction materials, tools, supplies, equipment, and deliveries as directed
  • Maintain professionalism, responsiveness, and a positive work attitude consistent with 3i’s brand and values
  • Communicate clearly with site leadership regarding assigned tasks, jobsite needs, safety concerns, and work progress

Construction Labor & Site Execution Support

  • Perform general construction labor including demolition support, sweeping, digging, material handling, site preparation, floor protection, dust control, and temporary barrier installation
  • Support Superintendents, Foremen, carpenters, concrete crews, drywall crews, equipment operators, and other trades with basic field tasks as assigned
  • Assist with moving, organizing, and protecting materials to support work sequencing, jobsite productivity, and safe access to work areas
  • Help maintain temporary signage, safety rails, barricades, floor protection, dust control measures, and other jobsite protections
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, small equipment, and jobsite equipment only when trained, authorized, and directed
  • Assist with project closeout, punch list support, final cleanup, material relocation, and site demobilization as needed

Safety, Compliance & Jobsite Awareness

  • Follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, project rules, PPE requirements, and all site-specific safety procedures
  • Participate in jobsite safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and Job Hazard Analysis activities as required
  • Maintain awareness of surrounding work activities and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, damaged equipment, or jobsite concerns
  • Use proper lifting, carrying, tool-handling, ladder, and housekeeping practices to support a safe jobsite environment
  • Help keep walking paths, access points, staging areas, and workspaces clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards

Communication & Team Support

  • Follow instructions from the Superintendent, Foreman, or designated site leader and complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner
  • Ask questions when instructions, safety expectations, or assigned tasks are unclear
  • Coordinate respectfully with internal team members, subcontractors, vendors, owners, and project partners
  • Support a team-oriented jobsite culture focused on safety, quality, productivity, accountability, and respect

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of commercial construction jobsites, tools, materials, and safe work practices preferred
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools, power tools, ladders, carts, brooms, shovels, and small equipment when trained
  • Ability to read simple labels, signs, safety instructions, and jobsite directions
  • Understanding of PPE requirements including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, vest, and work boots
  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred or ability to obtain within an approved timeframe if required by the company or project
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus

Qualifications

  • Previous construction, general labor, warehouse, maintenance, demolition, or field support experience preferred but not required
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, strong work ethic, and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work safely in an active commercial construction environment and follow directions from site leadership
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly, and more with assistance when required
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, squat, reach, and work on uneven surfaces for extended periods
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise
  • Valid driver license or reliable transportation to assigned project sites preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass drug and background screenings
