POSITION SUMMARY

 

Plan, manage, and direct a team of start-up technicians, supervisors and controls analyst responsible for establishing and implementing systems and controls testing and start-up for new and existing building commissioning in accordance with the NEBB’s Building System Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning programs.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Identify and resolve scheduling issues with project management and commissioning team to ensure all project commissioning commitments are satisfied. (coordinate the implementation of startup schedules)
2. Select, train and mentor commissioning team to ensure NEBB process of commissioning is delivered in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with Brandt standards. (Maintain “technician assessment and development tool” to 
measure and develop technicians skills and needs for additional training.)
3. Provide technical leadership through hands-on problem solving and training opportunities with commissioning personnel.
4. Ensure project management receives the necessary assistance to resolve project-specific systems and controls issues promptly to assure a satisfactory and timely outcome for both Brandt and the customer.
5. Manage Estimated hours on each project to meet or exceed budget. Coordinate with operations when budget concerns arise with DLM or documented verification of over runs.
6. Create and maintain tracking tools (“Project tracking Matrix”) for project and personnel scheduling to ensure commissioning objectives are met. Including technicians, supervisors and controls analyst scopes.
7. Oversee departments operational cost to meet budget. Including targeted applied time for technicians and office personnel.
8. Maintain project projecting and forecasting tool to ensure staffing requirements are met as needed. 
9. Ensure participation and compliance with company and site-specific safety programs and procedures. Conduct regular safety meetings specific to group requirements.
10. Develop interdepartmental relationships to provide seamless delivery of Southland services to customers (IPG, Mechanical Construction, Electrical, Service, etc.).
11. Assist IPG Sales with customer scope development, estimating, and technical analysis/support for retrofits, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
12. Remain informed on the newest trends, strategies, and system enhancements to ensure Brandt continually offers leading-edge commissioning technology and service.
13. Maintain commissioning tools inventory and calibration certifications.
14. Perform additional assignments as requested/needed. 

Travel Requirements: Up to 35% 


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
• NEBB Certified Professional (if not currently certified be pursuing)
• 5 to 10 years experience developing and conducting performance testing, validation and troubleshooting of large HVAC and controls systems
• OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
• General knowledge of engineering and design techniques plus thorough understanding of related engineering disciplines 
• Thorough understanding of Mechanical Building Codes and Construction Standards
• Strong knowledge of pneumatic and DDC controls and controls design
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Ability to successfully create a team environment and motivate subordinates
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office
