An experienced Construction Inspector is needed to team up with our engineers to observe and inspect construction projects primarily consisting of water and sewer infrastructure projects and the possibility of roadway reconstruction projects. An ideal candidate has a solid understanding of construction, ideally with 5 years of experience. Must be willing to learn new skills, tools and additional roles as needed. Must be willing to travel.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspect, observe, and help ensure a construction project is constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications
  • Maintain accurate daily records of the work (labor, equipment, materials, and quantities)
  • Identify contract changes and assist in preparation of change orders
  • Prepare field note records for progress payments
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, owners, and engineering staff
  • Coordinate required materials sampling and testing
  • Provide constructability reviews of draft plans prior to construction
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to read, understand, and apply construction drawings and specifications
  • Solid knowledge of construction including practices used and the equipment required on construction projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Teams)
  • Clean driving record
  • Available to travel and work out of town
  • Skilled in working independently and on a team
  • Successful organizational skills and ability to personally manage several projects
  • Decision-making skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers to solve complex problems

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of construction and/or construction inspection experience, ideally working on water/wastewater projects
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar software
