School Facilities Division Project Managers (PMs) concurrently manage multiple capital construction and major maintenance projects that vary in scope and value with duties including, but not limited to: coordination with K-12 school districts, State agencies, colleges, and the university for projects including project planning and programming requirements, budgets, procurement and bid processes, design oversight, effective coordination including budget controls, scheduling, contractor oversight, quality control procedures, compliance with codes and requirements dictated by governing entities, meeting attendance necessary to manage above activities and performing onsite observation of work to ensure projects are being constructed as per plan and specification.
Review maintenance and work order requests for compliance with State Statute and Rule.
Managing multiple projects simultaneously requires diligent time management.
Manage and participate in post-construction reviews with contractors, subcontractors, architects, and consultants.
Available for School Facilities Commission, Select Committee meetings, and State Building Commission as needed by administration.
PREFERENCES:
Position is located in Cheyenne, however, consideration will be given for candidates who reside in other areas of the state if they have extensive project management experience.
Preference may be given to candidates with extensive project management experience, including the ability to read and understand construction documents, project scheduling, cost estimating, and computer skills.
**The agency requires that the successful applicant have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel significant distances.
Organizational skills for project planning, design and construction.
Understanding of property condition assessments, prioritization of projects both capital and major maintenance.
Project design processes.
Construction management processes and procedures.
Construction means and methods.
Construction cost modeling and estimating.
Understanding of governmental management, accounting, procurement and budgeting.
OSHA standards, federal/state/local building and fire codes.
Proficient computer skills, knowledge of project management and scheduling software.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral mediums.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Travel will be required with overnight stays away from the office.
Work hours vary.
Prolonged sitting, standing, climbing, and walking on uneven or slippery terrain at construction and project sites will be required.
Some observations at heights with temporary facilities, including roofs, are required.
Many project sites have limited environmental controls, which can include: dust, heat, cold, and other environmental challenges that are a part of project observations.
