Construction Project Engineer I

Under the direction of the Assistant Construction Services Engineer, this position involves assisting in project engineering and construction inspection tasks, including reviewing Requests for Information (RFI), schedules, material submittals, and contract documents, ensuring project documentation accuracy, and providing construction inspection and administrative support as needed. Other essential functions include:

1. Act as liaison between contractors and County Engineer; direct Construction Technicians involved in conducting tests on work performed by contractors; maintain project budget and processes monthly pay estimates.

2. Coordinate and maintain records pertaining to type and quantity of materials used, tests performed, percent of project completed, make calculations, etc.; respond to inquiries from the public; coordinate meetings; review and approve schedule; review RFI’s.

3. Oversee layout & construction of roads, highways & bridges; write daily construction diary; interpret construction engineering plans and ensure contractor's compliance; verify measurements and quantities used; authorize minor alterations to plans.

4. Perform other related duties as assigned.
