Construction Services Manager

Supervises and participates in the activities of senior construction inspectors and field locators related to public works engineering. 

• Supervise senior construction inspectors and field locators of public works engineering projects to ensure that all projects are constructed according to specifications;
• Supervise and assist inspection staff for all new development and construction that involves pipelines, streets or stormwater infrastructure;
• Schedule and coordinate city inspections for all public works projects;
• Direct locators to ensure proper location and identification of underground infrastructure in order to avoid costly repairs;
• Allocate resources and personnel based on daily inspections needs;
• Coordinate work of construction inspection and testing with other departments;
• Maintain public relations by answering questions and handling problems;
• Maintain records and project files;
• Perform related duties as directed.

Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent and formal training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training with over four years and up to and including eight years experience in infrastructure inspection field experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

Valid Current Driver's License

Knowledge of:

• Federal and local building codes;
• Office practices and procedures;
• Rehabilitation and construction.

Ability to:

• Operate computer and related software;
• Communicate effectively with others;
• Maintain complete and accurate records;
• Prepare complete and accurate reports.

Physical Requirements:

• frequently exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular basis;
• frequently stand, walk, and sit during the shift;
• occasionally bend and kneel during the shift;
• frequently crawl under houses and in attics;
• frequently climb a ladder and walk on inclined surfaces;
• rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing;
• coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
