Position Overview
Seeking experienced Control Systems Designers to support major nuclear power project work in Houston, TX. Positions are available at the Senior Design Specialist, Senior Designer, and Principal Designer levels. Candidates will support drafting, design, 3D modeling, drawing development, field walkdowns, design modifications, and coordination with engineering staff.


Responsibilities

  • Perform computer aided design work using CAD tools
  • Use drafting applications to originate and produce drawings and 3D models
  • Support 3D modeling activities, S3D preferred
  • Read, interpret, and generate design drawings
  • Walk down field systems with minimal guidance
  • Interpret field direction and generate design details
  • Create new drawings and modify existing drawings
  • Support drawing reviews, checking, and design coordination
  • For higher-level roles, direct, check, and approve work performed by other designers
  • Support estimates, schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, quantity tracking, project scope of services, and scope of facilities, as applicable

Level Differentiators

Senior Design Specialist

  • Minimum associate degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive drafting experience related to Engineering and Construction
  • Uses drafting applications to originate and produce drawings with minimum supervision
  • Generates minor design details with minimal input from engineering staff

Senior Designer

  • Combination of education and 10 years of experience preferred
  • Drafting experience related to Engineering and Construction, nuclear preferred
  • Uses drafting applications to originate and produce drawings and 3D models of moderate to advanced complexity
  • Generates design drawings of moderate to advanced complexity with minimal supervision

Principal Designer

  • Combination of education and 15 years of experience preferred
  • Drafting experience related to Engineering and Construction, nuclear preferred
  • Performs advanced design work with minimal engineering supervision
  • Directs, checks, and approves work performed by other designers

Basic Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have working knowledge of Federal, including Department of Energy Orders, State, and Local codes and standards applicable to specialized nuclear or other areas of engineering design
  • Background and experience must include drafting/designer experience in engineering fields such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection, or civil
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD, SPI, and/or S3D is required
  • 3D modeling experience required, S3D preferred
  • Nuclear project experience preferred
