Position Summary:

We are seeking a Controller or Senior Financial Analyst to oversee the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and process efficiency. This role will be responsible for managing month-end close, profit and loss (P&L) preparation, account reconciliations, inventory reconciliation, and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting. The Controller will work closely with the executive team to provide financial insights that support business decisions and long-term growth.


Key Responsibilities:

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting:

  • Lead and oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual profit and loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure all journal entries, accruals, and adjustments are properly recorded.
  • Provide variance analysis and insights to management regarding financial performance.

WIP Accounting & Revenue Recognition:

  • Manage work-in-progress (WIP) accounting, ensuring proper revenue and cost recognition for ongoing projects.
  • Analyze project profitability, identify cost overruns, and provide recommendations to improve margins.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate job costing and forecasting.

Account Reconciliations & General Ledger Management:

  • Oversee and ensure accurate account reconciliations for bank accounts, intercompany transactions, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other key accounts.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring transactions are properly classified and documented.
  • Manage inventory reconciliation, ensuring accurate tracking, valuation, and reporting of inventory across all markets.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.

Financial Oversight & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, WIP accounting standards, and company financial policies.
  • Work closely with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and tax filings.
  • Oversee sales tax reporting and payroll tax compliance across multiple Texas markets.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management:

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing financial insights to support business decisions.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure financial stability.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong expertise in month-end close, P&L preparation, and account reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in accounting ERP Systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

  • Experience in home improvement, construction, or related industry.
