The Controller is responsible for the full spectrum of financial management, including general ledger oversight, construction job costing, project billing, lien management, payroll, and financial reporting. This role is critical in supporting the company’s financial health, project success, and strategic growth. The Controller will implement controls, improve forecasting accuracy, and drive efficiency across accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & General Accounting
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements within 10 business days of month-end close.
Maintain clean, audit-ready financials with <1% variance in year-end audit adjustments.
Reconcile 100% of balance sheet accounts monthly.
Job Costing & Project Financial Management
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements within 10 business days of month-end close.
Maintain clean, audit-ready financials with <1% variance in year-end audit adjustments.
Reconcile 100% of balance sheet accounts monthly.
Budgeting, Forecasting, & Cash Flow
Lead annual budgeting process with full executive review by Nov 30 each fiscal year.
Update cash flow forecast on a weekly basis; maintain forecast accuracy within ±5%.
Identify and implement at least two cost savings or process improvements per year.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement
Maintain 99.9% uptime and data integrity in Viewpoint ProContractor system.
Develop at least 3 new Smartsheet-based dashboards or tools annually to improve project or financial visibility.
Identify and automate 2 recurring manual tasks per quarter using technology solutions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or CMA preferred
7–10 years in accounting, including 5+ years in construction or project-based industries
Proficiency with Viewpoint ProContractor, Smartsheet, and advanced Excel
Deep knowledge of construction accounting, WIP reporting, lien waivers, AIA billing, and certified payroll
Track record of improving processes, reducing errors, and driving operational finance performance
