Summary of Position:  

The Copper Splicer will splice twisted pair copper cables in both indoor and outdoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot faulty pairs
  • Install splice cases
  • Splice copper
  • Count verification of all types of cable PIC and paper color coded and non-color coded
  • Install and maintain pressurized closures, both Waffle and Preforms

Essential Education and Qualifications:

  • Copper splicing experience including modular splicing 710 and/or MS2, bonding, pedestal prepping and buried closure application
  • Knowledge in paper and pulp cable splicing and pair identification a plus
  • Must be able to read prints and have familiarity with RUS units and redlines
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must be familiar with both paper and pic cables
  • Experience working with air pressure is a plus
  • Need the ability to work in underground, buried and aerial environments
  • Telephone experience is a must
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office programs

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be comfortable in confined spaces such as manholes and crawl spaces
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, etc.
  • Must be able to identify color
