Position Overview:
The Cost Analyst will provide key support to the Engineering & Major Projects department by ensuring accurate cost management, forecasting, and reporting. This role plays an integral part in maintaining financial oversight on capital projects, coordinating closely with project controls and budgeting teams, and delivering actionable insights to project managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Project Controls Specialist in developing and maintaining monthly cost reports and cost tracking workbooks.
Perform detailed reviews of contractor weekly and monthly progress reports to extract and consolidate financial and performance data.
Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and project updates in SAP.
Aid in the creation of executive-level PowerPoint presentations for internal project reporting and reviews.
Collaborate with the Budget Coordinator to support the preparation and submission of the annual Capital Budget.
Review, process, and track contractor Change Notices, and maintain related documentation including work orders and change logs.
Generate and distribute cost analysis reports and financial summaries for Project Managers and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience with SAP or the ability to quickly learn the system.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to manipulate large datasets and use formulas effectively.
Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint and other Office Suite tools.
Ability to interpret contractor progress reports and translate findings into financial impacts.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Prior experience in cost control, finance, or project support within an industrial or energy sector is preferred.
