As a Cost Engineer, you will support our project team onsite at a rural lithium mine in northern Nevada. As an essential member of the project team, you will ensure accurate construction cost scheduling and support the field. The Cost Engineer should have a keen eye for detail and be comfortable working autonomously with little supervision to meet tight deadlines. Work schedule and hours: 60-60-50 -- two consecutive weeks of 60 hours each, followed by one week of 50 hours, schedule repeats. This position is not eligible for remote work.

What you’ll be doing: You will be responsible for ensuring accurate construction-cost scheduling, analyzing work progress, and developing craft productivity reports. You will support the field and estimators with schedule and labor forecasts and monitor potential cost and scheduling problems for the project team.
Cost Engineers at Harder perform the following daily tasks:
Collection, review, and application of change management on a project level including progress tracking, estimate allocation & budgeting, and funding tracking
Partner with project team to track key indicators
Monitor project costs and measure project costs/revenues against establish project budget and schedule
Support field and estimators with developing and maintaining primary and area-specific schedules and labor forecasts
Identify productivity trends
Work with project accountant for client invoice submission
Understand milestones and specific project schedule
Additional responsibilities and duties may include minor procurement and scheduling
What you will need to be successful in this role:
Familiarity and conceptual understanding of online database use
Advanced Excel skills such as pivot tables, formulas, dataset manipulation
Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); familiarity with databases and SQL is an asset
Understanding of project cost and change management concepts
Eligibility for client badging
General understanding of the nature of process systems, and construction process is essential
Excellent organizational, time management, written, verbal and computer skills required
Strong communication skills and ability to work across various teams
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
Education/Experience:
3+ years’ experience in similar construction-cost scheduling roles
Previous cost engineer experience
Previous project accounting experience
Familiarity with mechanical systems
Experience working with SQL and PowerBI
