POSITION SUMMARY
This role is responsible for leading and managing the cost control function across projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to support informed decision-making. The position requires strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills to collaborate with project stakeholders and influence positive outcomes.
The Cost Manager/Senior Cost Manager will oversee the development and maintenance of cost reports, analyze trends, and provide actionable insights to project leadership. Responsibilities include implementing cost control measures, guiding teams in cost accountability, and ensuring compliance with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) practices, planning and scheduling, progress measurement, estimate development, and contract commercial terms.
PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVE
To lead and manage the cost control function for major projects by:
Ensuring accurate and timely cost reporting and forecasting.
Guiding project leadership with a cost-focused mindset.
Communicating project health effectively using standardized tools and methods.
Applying historical and current project trends to influence decision-making.
Maintaining data integrity and system accuracy.
Supporting contract and commercial analysis to optimize project financial performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain system accuracy and ensure data integrity.
Perform analytics including, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), Earned Value Management, Forecasting, Scenario evaluation
Generate standard cost reports for project stakeholders.
Create ad hoc reports to support project decision-making.
Conduct contract and commercial analysis to assess financial impacts.
Lead and facilitate meetings with Project Management Teams & Executive Leadership
Guide the cost team in developing and adjusting reports that reflect project health.
Communicate project status effectively using standardized tools and methods
Apply historical and current project trends to influence cost-related decisions.
Delegate tasks efficiently and identify team needs proactively.
Ensure professional execution of cost management responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university, or Master’s degree (M.A.) with exposure to advanced statistical analysis and construction management practices.
Experience Requirements:
Required: Over 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
Preferred: Over 7 to 10 years of experience in cost management within engineering, procurement, and construction environments.
Management Responsibilities:
Supervises 2+ team members.
Acts as a Work Leader and Supervisor, assigning tasks and overseeing performance.
Participates in hiring, performance evaluations, and salary reviews.
