Location: Sparks, NV
 Reports To: Site QC Supervisor / QA/QC Director
 Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control
 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
 Travel Required: Yes – Regional Job Sites & Office Locations

General Description

The QA/QC Inspector is responsible for planning and executing quality assurance activities for industrial construction processes, materials, and products. This role represents our client in overseeing pipe and equipment installations, welding inspections, and subcontractor work to ensure adherence to project and industry standards. The QA/QC Inspector actively participates in the client's quality program by documenting installation activities and ensuring compliance across all construction phases.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and tests to assure quality of processes, components, and final installation.
  • Review design documentation for compliance with industry and client standards.
  • Evaluate purchased products and materials for approval based on quality performance.
  • Accurately document all QA activities in line with our client and client policies.
  • Identify and communicate quality issues or process improvements to management.
  • Prepare and submit QA/QC reports and documentation.
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant industry codes and client specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the quality management team.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing solutions to quality-related challenges.
  • Present technical findings to internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Provide direction and guidance to technical support staff on QA activities.
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Site QC Supervisor or QA/QC Director.

Position Requirements

Education & Certifications

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Required or preferred
  • ICC Mechanical – Commercial Certification – Preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of QA/QC experience in industrial or commercial construction
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with ASME B31 piping codes
  • Background in welding, fabrication, and non-destructive testing (NDT)

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, codes, and technical manuals
  • Competent in mathematical calculations related to inspection and layout
  • Effective communication skills – verbal and written
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to follow both standardized and complex instructions in various formats

Physical Requirements

  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs; occasionally up to 25 lbs
  • Specific vision abilities: Jaeger (J1) vision required annually
  • Regularly required to walk, climb stairs, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • Standard 8-hour shifts with a 1-hour lunch and two 15-minute rest breaks
  • Can expect 10-20hrs of overtime

Travel

  • Required based on project locations and business needs
  • Travel includes site visits between regional branches, client sites, and field projects
