Construction is seeking an experienced and reliable Dirt/Finish Excavator Foreman to lead construction operations on highway and site development projects. This key position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities, ensuring the team follows project specifications, safety protocols, and deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in heavy civil construction and excavation, with a proven track record of successfully managing construction teams. Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight: Direct and manage daily operations for excavation and grading activities, ensuring work is performed according to project specifications and schedule.
Leadership & Supervision: Lead and supervise a crew of skilled workers and subcontractors, providing clear instructions and guidance to ensure safety, productivity, and quality.
Scheduling & Planning: Work closely with the superintendent to plan, schedule, and prioritize work activities. Ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
Resource Management: Ensure crew members have the necessary tools and equipment to perform their tasks safely and efficiently. Monitor equipment performance and report issues as needed.
Quality Assurance: Regularly inspect work to verify compliance with project plans, industry standards, and safety regulations. Provide feedback and corrections as necessary.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety standards and maintain a safe work environment, identifying hazards and taking proactive steps to mitigate risks.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with the superintendent regarding project status, potential challenges, and daily schedules.
Physical & Mental Stamina: Maintain physical and mental readiness for handling physically demanding tasks, tight deadlines, and high-pressure situations.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned by the superintendent or project manager.
Job Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in heavy highway construction, with a solid understanding of excavation, grading, drainage systems, and construction plans.
Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of project scopes, construction processes, and scheduling. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Leadership & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to resolve conflicts, solve problems on the fly, and motivate team members.
Physical Ability: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 60 lbs, kneeling, bending, walking, and operating heavy machinery in various weather conditions.
Driver’s License: Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment: Must be comfortable working outdoors in Florida's weather conditions, including extreme heat and occasional rain.
Working Conditions:
Location: Predominantly outdoor work at various construction sites across Southwest Florida.
Weather Exposure: Exposure to all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and humidity.
Physical Demands: Includes lifting, standing, operating heavy equipment, and other physically demanding tasks.
Schedule: Flexible work hours may be required, and occasional travel to project sites may be necessary.
