The Opportunity

To support this exciting work, we're looking for a creative and passionate Division Communication Manager - Electrification + Energy Solutions with strong business acumen and a growth mindset to join our fun and collaborative team. In this role, you will lead a communications team in the development and implementation of strategic and engaging communications for the Electrification and Energy Solutions Division within Caterpillar. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Segment Communication Manager, and directly supporting the Senior Vice President, you will be a vital member of the leadership team and a trusted advisor on a wide range of communications that directly impacts Caterpillar’s reputation. As a trusted business partner, you’ll work closely with senior leaders and business partners to drive our strategic priorities and E+ES culture through actionable communications plans. You’ll also lead and collaborate with global, cross-functional teams that make an important impact on the business.

What You Will Do:  

  • Lead a small communications team to develop and execute actionable communication strategies to drive collaboration, understanding, change management, adaptability and a growth mindset.
  • Manage all communications for the Senior Vice President, which requires strong business acumen and a deep understanding of the strategic elements of the business and the business challenges.
  • Coach and mentor senior leadership on effective communication strategy development and delivery.
  • Focus on enhancing the employee experience by prioritizing people and internal communications. You will develop and implement strategies to improve internal communication channels, ensuring that employees are well-informed, engaged, and connected.
  • Partner with Human Resources to build and manage strategies that develop leaders, prioritize inclusion, instill deep understanding of the business, promote critical skills, and support a growth mindset.
  • Collaborate closely with the media team to tell compelling stories highlighting our businesses and people in various markets.
  • Prepare internal and external presentations, talking points, articles, emails, videos and other materials to embed the identity of the division with key stakeholder groups.
  • Manage multiple, complex, high-pressure assignments under tight deadlines with complete accuracy and the highest quality 
  • Craft written materials for stakeholders, often on complex topics, to diverse, global audiences. Stakeholders include but are not limited to employees, media, investors, dealers, customers, suppliers and government officials.  Understand communication objectives for various audiences.

  • Communicating & Writing: Creates and develops materials, speeches, presentations, reviews press releases and develops internal and external social media plans. Will play a leading role in defining division and segment specific writing approaches and practices.
  • Organizational Communications: Develops organizational communication strategies and policies. Advises others on a wide spectrum of communications programs. Leads in the design and development of multimedia communications campaigns. Champions the use of innovative communications vehicles and practices.

Top Candidates Will Also Have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field  
  • 10 or more years of progressive communications-related experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.

Summary Pay Range:

$144,960.00 - $217,320.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
