A well-established commercial drywall contractor in Austin is seeking an experienced Commercial Drywall Superintendent to join their field leadership team immediately. This is a strong long-term opportunity for a proven drywall leader who knows how to run commercial projects, manage crews, coordinate with general contractors, and keep production moving safely and efficiently.
This role is ideal for a hands-on superintendent or senior foreman with deep experience in commercial drywall, metal framing, interiors, and field operations.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $38β$43+ per hour, depending on experience
Annual Earning Potential: Average total compensation typically ranges from $135,000β$149,000 per year with overtime, bonus, and allowances. Top-performing superintendents have the ability to earn $160,000+ annually, and potentially more depending on overtime, project size, and workload.

Position Overview
The Commercial Drywall Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations on commercial drywall projects throughout the Austin area. This person will manage manpower, production, schedules, quality control, safety, materials, and coordination with project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field crews.
The right candidate must be able to take ownership of the jobsite, lead crews with confidence, solve field issues quickly, and maintain strong communication with both internal leadership and outside project partners.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee commercial drywall, metal framing, and interior systems projects from field mobilization through completion
Manage crews, foremen, subcontractors, manpower planning, and daily production
Read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and project documents
Coordinate closely with project managers, general contractors, owners, inspectors, and other trades
Maintain project schedules and help drive work to meet deadlines
Monitor quality control and ensure work is completed to company and project standards
Track field progress, materials, labor needs, deliveries, and jobsite conditions
Identify and communicate potential delays, change order items, conflicts, or scope issues
Lead jobsite safety efforts and ensure crews follow company and project safety requirements
Assist with layout, sequencing, production planning, and problem-solving in the field
Maintain professionalism with clients, GCs, vendors, and internal team members
Help mentor foremen and field employees as needed
Required Experience
Minimum of 10 years of commercial drywall experience
Prior experience as a Drywall Superintendent, General Superintendent, Field Superintendent, or senior-level commercial drywall foreman
Strong background in commercial drywall, metal stud framing, hanging, finishing, ceilings, and interior systems
Ability to manage multiple crews and fast-moving commercial jobsite conditions
Strong plan-reading and field coordination skills
Experience working directly with general contractors and project managers
Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to maintain schedule, quality, safety, and production standards
Must be dependable, professional, and able to step into an active role quickly
Preferred Background
Experience with established commercial drywall contractors
Experience running larger commercial drywall projects or multiple scopes at once
Strong production mindset with the ability to lead field teams effectively
Austin/Central Texas commercial construction experience preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required
OSHA certification is a plus

The company may also consider a highly qualified commercial drywall foreman who is ready to grow into a superintendent-level role. Foreman-level compensation is expected to be around $35 per hour, depending on experience. Vehicle allowance may not apply at the foreman level.
