Mesa's strategic growth strategy for our commercial nuclear division is to create a ready service pool of available staff to support proposals and projects in nuclear generation. Mesa is seeking an experienced Nuclear Digital I&C and Electrical Engineer to support various proposals for commercial nuclear projects. The position will serve to oversee proposal developmental and guide other engineers in the development of deliverables for nuclear projects within the Electrical, Controls, and Digital discipline areas. This position will report to an assigned Project Engineer and Project Manager on multi-discipline proposals and projects and may act as a Project Engineer for Electrical and I&C projects. The successful candidate will be responsible working with other engineers and designers to prepare design change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants and other associated nuclear facilities. Translating requested scopes of work into estimates and proposals for Electrical, I&C, and Digital.

Project responsibilities will include conducting field walkdowns to determine existing configuration of plant structures/systems/components; preparing scoping documents to determine extent of modifications required, preparing cost estimates for engineering/design activities; performing a broad range of Digital I&C design activities to support development of design change documentation, including modification of system requirements, system network architecture, control logic, and HMI. Understanding cyber security implications surrounding the overall architecture of plant networks, operating systems, hardware platforms, plant specific applications, and the services and protocols upon which these applications relay. Ability to generate cyber assessments and component classification in accordance with 10CFR73.54 and NEI 08-09 and ensuring the classification of critical digital assets are documented prior to being presented to client Cyber Security Assessment Teams for review and approval.

Responsibilities may include being a technical point of contact with the customer, leading discipline specific engineering teams, and providing area expertise in development of industry standard design and calculations associated with design and construction of commercial nuclear modifications. Typical duties will include development and issuance of design deliverables associated with defined scopes of work, specifically related to nuclear digital and controls applications, mentoring engineering staff in the intricacies of commercial nuclear digital/cyber and controls design, making design presentations to client representatives, supporting the Project Manager and Project Engineer as requested. The successful applicant must have design engineering experience associated with commercial nuclear sites, including experience with integration of digital upgrades and cyber security reviews in accordance with owner procedures. On-site experience with past clearance for unescorted access to an operating or construction nuclear site is highly preferred.

A strong background in commercial nuclear design and developing engineering competencies is required.

Requirements:
• Must be proficient in preparation of engineering change packages (EC’s).
• BS degree from an accredited university – electrical or controls engineering.
• MS or other advanced degree in engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in design of modifications in commercial nuclear plants.
• Must be able to demonstrate adaptability; must be proficient in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within a nuclear power plant environment.
• PE registration is preferred – or plan to obtain PE License provided.
• Experience working with multiple operating nuclear clients and vendors is highly desirable.
• Must be able to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant – on-site and past unescorted access is highly preferred.
• Position requires excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers and internal team members under a matrixed organization.
• Experience with Industry Standard Design Procedure IP-ENG-001 is required.
• Knowledgeable of Industry Standard Digital Design Engineering NISP-EN-04 is required.
• Position can be hybrid remote or full remote, must be able to travel to plant sites when needed (approx. 6-8 days/month with ability to support longer durations).
