Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist to support our Mining Business Line. This role will be structured as a developing seller-doer position, with responsibilities split between technical project support and participation in client development activities.

The successful candidate will contribute to environmental investigations, compliance, and permitting efforts for mining clients while assisting with proposal support, client engagement, and market growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support environmental data collection and analysis for mining-related projects.
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports, regulatory documentation, and permit support materials.
  • Contribute to environmental compliance tracking, data management, and KPI reporting.
  • Support field activities including sampling and data documentation, as needed.
  • Assist in proposal preparation, including research, scope development, technical writing and document assembly.
  • Participate in client meetings, industry events, and networking activities with senior team members.
  • Support cross-functional coordination between technical teams, regulators, and clients.
  • Contribute to internal process improvements, reporting efficiency, and data visualization initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining and strengthening relationships with mining clients.
  • Support identification of new opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Contribute technical input to positioning efforts and marketing materials.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to water quality, watershed ecology, or environmental policy.
  • Familiarity with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, or environmental regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience supporting grant compliance, regulatory reporting, or public-sector programs.
  • Interest in developing within mining or natural resources consulting.
