Job Summary:
|
The Estimator will gather and analyze data to estimate and allocate costs for current and proposed excavation jobsites
|
|
Duties/Responsibilities:
|
- Follows Mission, Vision, Values
- Completes project estimates for scope of work
- Meets and collaborates with all involved (clients/management) in proposed projects to understand the needs of the project and scope of work
- Coordinates with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Project Engineers
- Contacts subcontractors and vendors for accurate and best pricing for estimates
- Creates and submits bid packages
- Completes scope reviews including front-end documents, addendums, plan sheets changes, and bid clarifications
- Reviews site online or in person to assess issues
- Completes bid forms, bid letters, proposals appropriately and completely
- Provides all requested breakdowns, allowances, labor rates, unit prices, and alternates
- Builds client relationships
- Follow up with clients on proposal status
- Transfer estimate to a project in ProContractor
- Creates purchase orders post award
- Assist in submittal process
- Conducts hand take-offs when necessary
- Conducts transition meetings to convey all estimating information to leadership team
- Participates in all post-project evaluation meetings to determine “lesson Learned” for future projects

Required Skills/Abilities:
|
- Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, ProContractor, Blue Beam and Blue Prints (Construction Drawings)
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong math skills
- Understanding of the process
- Ability to work with little to no supervision
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Strong ability to remain flexible in job hours worked as specific assignments change
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to estimate depending on job type
- Strong understanding of layout, material, and equipment usage

Education and Experience:
|
- Valid Drivers License or State ID
- Bachelor’s Degree in Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent on-the-job experience
|
Physical Requirements:
|
- Must be able to traverse different types of worksites and bend, climb, stretch, and reach
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull 50-pound loads at a time
- Must be able to work in a variety of environments including but not limited to concrete, dirt, fumes, and loud noise levels
- Must be able to work long hours and Saturdays when needed
