Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise excavation crews on residential and commercial projects.
- Coordinate site work including trenching, backfilling, grading, and utility installations.
- Operate and oversee the use of heavy machinery such as excavators, dozers, and skid steers.
- Interpret site plans, blueprints, and job specifications to guide excavation operations.
- Monitor worksite safety and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Communicate with project managers, subcontractors, and inspectors to ensure timelines and budgets are met.
- Track daily production and crew performance, maintaining accurate job records.
- Train and mentor team members to uphold RME's high standards of workmanship.
- Adjust work schedules, resource allocation, and procedures as needed based on site conditions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in excavation/earthwork, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of grading, utility installation, trenching, and erosion control.
- Proficient in reading construction drawings and performing site layout.
- Skilled in operating heavy equipment (must have verifiable experience).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of excavation safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort:
- Requires lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds.
- Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk, and climb throughout the shift.
- Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, and odors.
- Ability to handle stress and work under deadlines.
