Here's how a Field Engineer for our Civil District office located in Salt Lake City, UT, contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

Field Operations:

  • Assisting with surveying, testing, sample collection, drawing correction and filing, check material deliveries

  • Assisting with time keeping and cost control, inventory control, schedule checking, subcontractor monitoring

  • Assisting with report preparation, safety inspections, submittal logging and processing

  • Observing and reporting results of meeting, conducting site tours for visitors

  • Able to measure and confirm quantities

  • Order materials as required by the project

  • Other duties as assigned

Office Operations:

  • Preparing quantity take-offs, calling vendors and subcontractors for proposals

  • Checking drawings and specifications for completeness, discrepancies, etc

  • Attending bid opening, conferences, etc and taking notes, making records, completing forms

  • Assisting with project record keeping, preparing shop drawings, assisting with cost control records

Project Management:

  • Assisting project managers and superintendents at as high a responsibility as practical

  • Coordinating sub-contractor activities, verifying work and recommending progress payments, inspecting

  • Obtaining permits and licenses, checking zoning and code requirements, designing temporary facilities

  • Arranging for utility services, conducting safety inspections and training, supervise punch-list activities

  • Expediting material deliveries, assisting in documenting and preparing claims

  • Verifying work hours, materials and other elements necessary for updating database files

  • Preparing briefing chart and formal reports, etc

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Construction Management

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience

  • Internships or experience in water infrastructure construction highly preferred
