You, as a Field Engineer, will:

  • Assist superintendents with layout, verification of dimensions, and field coordination of trade contractors against design documents.
  • Conduct daily field walks to document work-in-place, identify conflicts, and report progress against the project schedule.
  • Document field conditions through photographs, daily reports, and written records; maintain organized project files.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for general conformance.
  • Serve as the site’s primary daily safety presence; conduct and document site safety orientations for all new workers.
  • Perform and record daily and weekly jobsite safety inspections; issue written hazard notices and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Facilitate and document weekly toolbox talk (TBT) meetings; maintain a compliant TBT program calendar.
  • Develop and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) with trade foremen prior to the start of critical or high-risk activities.
  • Maintain site safety records including OSHA 300 log, inspection reports, near-miss reports, and training documentation.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations; prepare written reports and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and enforce site-specific PPE requirements, housekeeping standards, and site access controls.
  • Coordinate with subcontractor safety representatives; review sub safety plans for project-specific compliance.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the site-specific Safety & Health Plan (SSHP) and Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Liaise with OSHA compliance officers during any site visits; notify the Project Manager & Lead Superintendent immediately upon inspector arrival.

Is this the right role for you?

  • Minimum 2-4 years’ of Commercial Construction experience. 
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to create and maintain strong relationships, strong communication skills, and attention to detail; as well as the ability to work effectively and accurately in time sensitive situations within a team.
