Job Overview Wagner Construction Inc. is seeking a detail-driven GPS/Construction Layout Field Engineer to oversee precision layout operations on our commercial heavy civil projects. This role is central to ensuring our projects are executed with pinpoint accuracy using cutting-edge GPS and BIM technologies. Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in layout and quality control while thriving in fast-paced, field-based environments. You will serve as the technical liaison for layout, document control, and as-built management—ensuring that projects stay on target from groundbreaking through final inspection.

Key Responsibilities
Manage field layout operations for heavy civil construction projects.
Operate and maintain Trimble GPS rover systems; utilize Trimble Business Center for data management and layout preparation.
Manage, load, and update digital models for GPS and machine control equipment.
Maintain control and documentation of plan revisions and drawing sets across all phases of the project.
Serve as the primary point of contact for BIM modeling and its integration into field operations.
Oversee and document as-built conditions, ensuring that field activities reflect design intent.
Execute quality control procedures, validating field installations and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate and manage 3rd party survey and staking vendors.
Support project management teams with layout accuracy, model updates, and field coordination.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related field OR 2–4 years of hands-on GPS layout and civil construction experience.
Expertise in Trimble GPS systems, including rovers and base stations.
Proficiency in Trimble Business Center software and working knowledge of CAD and BIM modeling platforms.
Experience managing construction models and digital plan sets.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, travel-based work environment.
Willingness to travel and work on-site throughout regional project locations.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Requires lifting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and operating equipment.
Work around heavy machinery and moving equipment.
Exposure to loud noise and harsh weather conditions.
