Job Overview:
Are you an experienced Heavy Equipment MechanicΒ with the skills to keep a hardworking fleet field-ready? Terra Contracting Inc. is searching for a skilled and proactive mechanic to join our team. In this vital role, you'll maintain, repair, and diagnose issues with a wide variety of heavy construction equipment used in underground utility work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on equipment including excavators, loaders, skid steers, and more.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, full-service inspections, and emergency repairs in both shop and field environments.
  • Travel to project sites for equipment service to minimize downtime and keep operations moving.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Communicate with operators and site supervisors to proactively identify performance issues and prioritize fixes.
  • Ensure all work complies with DOT, OSHA, and internal safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; report needs promptly.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with heavy diesel equipment repair and hydraulic systems (required).
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently at job sites.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to prioritize under pressure and work efficiently in changing environments.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
  • ASE Certification or equivalent vocational/mechanical training (preferred).
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must provide your own basic tools.

Schedule:
  • Full-Time - 1st and 2nd shifts options
  • Monday - Friday with on-call/emergency availability as needed
  • Tuesday - Saturday on-call/emergency availability as needed

Work Location:
  • Based from shop and traveling to active job sites as needed
  • Las Vegas, NV
