Summary
The Senior Software Applications Specialist will be responsible for managing the incoming requests from the business for IT application improvements. As central point of contact this role works with the business and IT SMEs on systems to establish the high-level requirements and business value coupled with the ROM estimate for implementation. This position will also be one of a team of project managers and will be assigned as PM for select projects. The position exercises discretion and judgment. The candidate must be a US citizen.
Scope
The Senior Specialist is highly knowledgeable within designated Information Technology (IT) area of responsibility and applies that knowledge toward broad and diverse assignments. This role requires the utilization of expert technical and business judgement to evaluate and determine the disposition of work that is being requested to be performed by application support & development personnel, within the framework of a defined work intake process. This will involve close communication and collaboration with the IT department as well as the business requestors and functional leads for the impacted disciplines. The evaluation will consider the business value of the request, the cost of implementation, resource availability, and compatibility with the systems roadmap as well as technical and business strategies.
The Senior Specialist will also serve as a project manager for small IT projects, providing project plan development and tracking, status updates to management, and closely interfacing with both users and technical staff.
The Senior Specialist applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems. This position may lead and guide other IT staff.
Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with senior leadership, department heads, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure the seamless integration of software applications with broader organizational processes.
• Execute IT projects, including conceptualizing, organizing, planning, anticipating project needs
• Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT solutions within designated area
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a technology roadmap for enterprise software applications.
• Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance the efficiency of application development.
• Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to define project scope, deliverables and provide recommendations for optimizing software application strategies.
• Coordinate project activities, allocate resources effectively, and communicate project updates, milestones, and key performance indicators to executive leadership and stakeholders.
• Champion continuous process improvement initiatives, incorporating lessons learned from previous projects to enhance development practices.
• Foster a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging exploration of emerging technologies, methodologies, and industry trends.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and industry best practices, driving innovation within the organization.

Working Conditions

• Various levels of environmental conditions including but not limited to project worksites and vendor/client facilities which may have temporary office space, moving mechanical parts and vibration; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and extreme temperatures and high noise levels• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to fourteen (14) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors

• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner• Accredited degree or global equivalent in Business, Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Systems Analysis, or related discipline
• Advanced degree (Master’s or global equivalent) is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of software development life cycle.
• Proven experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies preferred.
• Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
• Knowledge of key aspects of the business domains.
