Job Title: Junior Architect
Work Location: Huntsville, AL
Salary: Based on experience and other relevant factors.
REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist in the application of architectural design principles, building codes, and regulations in facility construction and site work.
- Support the review and interpretation of construction drawings and project requirements.
- Participate in architectural planning, design, and construction support for government buildings, test stands, and laboratory facilities.
- Assist in the development of design criteria, drawings, and specifications under the guidance of senior architects.
- Conduct field investigations of existing facilities and document findings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to develop contract drawings for construction projects.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for proposed construction activities.
- Review construction submittals to verify compliance with project requirements.
- Provide support in responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) during the construction phase.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and final walkthroughs of completed projects.
- Assist in maintaining accurate project documentation, including red-lined drawings and reference files.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited architectural program
- Intent to obtain Registered Architect professional status
- 0-3 years professional experience in architectural design (internship experience preferred).
- Familiarity with International Building Code (IBC) standards is a plus
- Basic understanding of project management in planning, design, and construction phases is beneficial.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, or Bentley MicroStation is preferred
- Strong willingness to learn and assist senior architects, designers, and drafters.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
- Ability to safely lift 20 pounds.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
