Big-D Construction has an opportunity for a Junior Data Analyst to join their team of construction professionals in the Salt Lake City, UT area.

Position Summary: 

As a Junior Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting data-driven decision-making and business intelligence efforts. You will work closely with senior data analysts, data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in data analysis within the context of the construction industry, contributing to our operational efficiencies and strategic initiatives. 

Experience/Training: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ years of experience in an IT or Data related field 

 Critical Skills 

  • Some experience or coursework in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Basic programming skills in languages like Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate data findings into actionable insights.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks independently.

 Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)                  

  • Assist in collecting and compiling data from internal and external sources, ensuring data quality and completeness.
  • Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation to support accurate analysis.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present findings and insights to stakeholders.
  • Support ad-hoc data analysis requests from different departments, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with team members to understand data requirements and assist in designing and optimizing data models.
  • Assist in identifying trends, patterns, and correlations in data to support business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Participate in the testing and validation of data analytics tools and systems.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data analysis and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
