GENERAL PURPOSE
Assumes the responsibility for the maintenance of City property and equipment; light duty maintenance and construction equipment for public works construction, maintenance and demolition projects; and the operation of other related equipment.

Works under the supervision of the Foreman, Assistant Street Superintendent and/or Street Superintendent

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Presence in the workplace on a regular basis is required to accomplish the essential functions, regular attendance MUST be maintained.
Drives dump truck to transport supplies or materials.
Operates three or more of the following pieces of light duty equipment: small motor grader, small dozer, backhoe, roller, bush-hog mowers, front-end loader, haul-type truck and/or other light duty construction, maintenance and demolition equipment
Operates equipment for the purpose of ditching, leveling, and smoothing to grade on maintenance and construction projects; hauling, dumping, and/or spreading of material
Instructs and trains assigned workers on equipment used; regularly services equipment; reports repair needs
Makes routine repairs and adjustments on equipment used
Performs strenuous manual labor, as necessary
Pickup trash/debris and clean up City owned properties.
Perform storm cleanup of trees, limbs, etc.
Inclement weather preparations.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
Performs all other functions as assigned by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Foreman.

Work is performed in outdoor settings. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various pieces of equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to one hundred (100) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
