The Manager, Strategic Branch Revitalization (SBR) is a key Divisional leadership position reporting directly to the Senior Director, Real Estate & Facility Optimization. This role is primarily responsible for executing layout and process changes to increase productivity and capacity in their assigned Division.  This critical role will collaborate with regional and district leaders, branch managers, facility managers and divisional finance to ensure that new and revised locations are set up to maximize customer service, operational productivity and branch consistency while supporting Beacons Ambition 2025 objectives with respect to growth, acquisitions, and greenfield sites. Leaders, this leader will be the conduit between the Corporate SBR Team and the Divisional Leaders and will report weekly progress of SBR in the assigned Division.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Engage with Corporate SBR Team, consultant team and branches to develop timeline, process, standards, and measurements to implement SBR in their assigned Division ensuring that seasonality, lease roll off dates, market requirements and workforce engagement are fully addressed.
  • Work closely with members of Infrastructure and Operations Team to ensure greenfield locations, OTC hubs and new branches from moves are established based on SBR guidelines and processes.
  • Develop coherent strategy and tactics with required timing to ensure effective transition of the Division’s branches to SBR format.
  • Design and implement warehouse and yard layout changes to drive pulling efficiency and capacity increases.
  • In partnership with the Infrastructure Team and consultants, establish a list of core vendors that Beacon will use for branch revitalization and conversion.
  • Schedule, plan and implement branch conversion from location identification, planning and branch engagement to scheduling and providing full support to the local teams including BMs, DMs, and RVPs.
  • Work with regional and district leaders to establish a detailed, geographic plan that provides clear structure and timing for branch-by-branch conversions.
  • Partner with Manager, Real Estate & Facilities and Beacon’s external Leasing and Facilities provider to align SBR principles and processes to greenfield locations including build to suit, existing sites and OTC hubs.
  • Coordinate activities related layout, equipment, contractor efforts and set up to ensure maximum service to the identified BM & DM.
  • Develop a working cadence with functional departments such as FP&A, Supply Chain, Sales, Fleet and Safety to uncover cost-savings opportunities and organic productivity in the SBR process.
  • Partner with Beacon OTC leader to ensure effective deployment of SBR in hub branches as a part of the overall divisional infrastructure plan.
  • Partner with facilities team and district leaders to ensure effective moves of branches result in new SBR facilities.
  • Partner with Manager, Real Estate & Facilities to ensure all new facilities are in SBR format.
  • Set targets for all new facilities and demonstrate dollarized impact that meets or beats cost targets.
  • Leverage branch lean assessments & SBR initiatives to ensure branch layouts, flow, fleet productivity and sales per hour are optimized.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field of service preferred.
  • 3-5 Years in a Beacon Branch Leadership role (Market Manager, Branch Manager, ABM)
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated progressive experience in both operations and sales.
  • Job experience working in or leading a branch operation.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Proficient with Personal Computer applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, AS400 Based Warehouse Management Systems, TMS, Fleet Management and Routing Tools)
  • Superior and demonstrated leadership, team building, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and coaching skills and the ability to ensure accountability using Lean Management Principles.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive company programs and processes.
  • Proven experience managing cost savings and yield improvement projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and drive multiple projects and teams.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
