The position provides basic administrative work processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence.
This position serves as a Discipline Material Control on assigned projects or reports to Discipline Lead Material Controllers on assigned projects of difficult complexity.
• Has working knowledge of Fluor’s practices and guidelines.
• Has basic understanding of the development of project estimates and project baselines.
• Has basic understanding project execution including Change Management and how it affects the changes in material quantities.
• Gives input to project Forecasting.
• Has the ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) other discipline drawings, and manufacturer’s catalog data.
• Provide procurement and expediting support and expediting in conformance with project requirements.
• Keeps the Project Discipline Engineer/Material Control Manager informed of the status of materials.
• Other duties as assigned.Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to six (6) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerGeneral Knowledge Base:
• General understanding of MaterialManager(MATMAN)
• General understanding of UNISON Data Standards, including Material Attributes, Standard Details, and Key Quantity Reporting
• General understanding of various discipline drawing types and Engineering
Responsibility Matrix (ERM)• Has working knowledge of and interprets P&IDs, other discipline drawings and manufacturer's
catalog data.
• Reviews P&IDs, plot plans, transpositions, and miscellaneous piping details to maintain and update
material takeoffs.
Prepares and checks valve and other component take-offs from P&IDs.
• When assigned, provides design system support including interface downloading specifications,
specification editing, and building of piping modeling components.
• Coordinates with the Material Engineer and Design Supervisor for scheduling of design support
activities.
