Job Overview

This position requires an individual who is organized, possesses excellent multi-tasking skills, and has a strong work ethic. Daily paperwork is required and must be submitted daily. The ability to read, understand, and apply information is required. The applicant must be able to operate with discretion while possessing strong character and work ethic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all repairs are completed timely, yet with the highest level of quality, and have been tested prior to the equipment and/or truck leaving the company yard.
  • Certify routine and preventative maintenance is being completed as required (timely), properly, and documented for all company-owned equipment, tools, trailers, and vehicles. This includes but is not limited to oil changes, belt replacements, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, diagnose, analyze, repair, replace, adjust, and/or align any/all components of machinery, heavy equipment, and engines.
  • Order and/or requisition parts and materials as needed and manage paperwork.
  • Understand and perform various daily and weekly assignments from oral or written communication as requested.
  • Keep equipment and shop clean and orderly at all times. This ensures a safe work environment for everyone.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards/policies and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Report all hazards, accidents, and/or incidents and ensure proper documentation is completed as necessary.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is required.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job of mechanic:
  • Education and Experience:
    • Must have a high school diploma or GED. Technical or Vocational education in areas of diesel mechanics and truck maintenance preferred.
    • Must have 3 or more years' experience - supervisory experience preferred.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, or Other Requirements:
    • Texas Driver's License and clean driving record are required - CDL preferred.
  • Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Required:
    • Dependable team player with a positive attitude.
    • Ability to keep the mechanic shop and all working areas clean, orderly, and organized. This includes but is not limited to ensuring all tools and equipment are returned to their proper place and locked prior to the employee leaving the shop each day.
    • Strong communication skills required. English and Spanish are preferred.
    • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
    • Must be able to work overtime and weekends when required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Working outside and inside in a variety of temperatures.
  • Must be able to stand for an entire shift.
