Mechanical Coordinator

B.L. Harbert International is looking for a Mechanical Coordinator to work on projects in various locations overseas. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with mechanical field superintendent and staff on schedule, progress and technical needs
  • Issue Purchase Requests (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs)
  • Manage material procurement in coordination with field and design needs
  • Review Engineering drawings, construction contract requirements, and material specifications
  • Ensure documentation of progress, project closeout, and variations throughout entire construction phase
  • Oversee the development of design on Design-Build projects
  • Carry out Value-Engineering (VE) and Constructability Studies
  • Carry out Life-Cycle Cost Study Analyses (LCAAs)
  • Carry out Construction Contract Administration (RFIs/Submittals/O&Ms/REAs, etc.)
  • Carry out Quantifications of Material and Equipment
  • Manage computer-assisted drafting team for coordination of utilities and layouts
  • Coordinate vendor start-ups and commissioning

Requirements:

  • US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport
  • 3-5 years of mechanical construction engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering; relevant experience will be considered
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with estimating/quantifying software such as: On-Center-Takeoff (OST), Fast Est (FastDUCT/ FastPIPE), Trimble MEP or similar programs

Preferences:

  • Experience in highly technical Department of Defense or Department of State projects
  • Experience leading a successful DOD, COE, NAVFAC, or DOS project overseas
  • Commissioning and Balancing experience
  • Troubleshooting experience
  • Instrumentation and controls experience
  • BIM/3-D modeling experience

Physical Demands:

To perform the duties of this job, the employee must:

  • Have the ability to repetitively use hands to grasp, reach above and below with arms, and work overhead
  • Have the ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, bend, balance and twist for extended periods
  • Have the ability to frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 75 pounds
  • Possess the manual dexterity to utilize and operate construction tools and/or construction equipment and machinery
  • Possess physical agility and mobility, to include safely maneuvering throughout the job site

Work Environment:

To perform the duties of this job, the employee

  • Must be able to work 60-hours/week, six days/week, 10 hours/day
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Will have occasional exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including frequent loud noises
  • Must be comfortable with regular work near moving mechanical parts and outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
