Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a Night Shift Site Superintendent on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history, valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. This project offers potential Project Team members a valuable opportunity to broaden their professional experience and advance their careers throughout its duration. The CEPP plays a vital role in Everglades restoration, aiming to enhance ecosystem health, improve water storage, and increase resilience to climate change.

Job Title:  Night Shift Site Superintendent

Salary:  Competitive compensation package based on experience.

The Night Shift Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating multiple scopes of heavy civil construction work during night operations. This role requires a strong field leader capable of managing large crews, maintaining production targets, and ensuring safe, efficient execution of earthwork, drainage, and dewatering activities during night shift operations.

The ideal candidate is highly schedule-driven, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing complex field operations involving multiple crews and overlapping scopes of work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage multiple scopes of construction work simultaneously during night shift operations.
  • Supervise and direct field crews of 50+ employees across various civil construction activities.
  • Coordinate and manage dewatering operations, including the use of large-diameter pumps and associated systems.
  • Oversee processing, conditioning, and placement of soil for fill operations.
  • Monitor and direct earthwork activities including grading, excavation, and embankment construction.
  • Oversee installation of drainage systems, including drainage blankets, pipe installation, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure proper compaction through oversight of density and moisture testing using nuclear gauge equipment.
  • Track production, progress, and daily field activities across all active scopes of work.
  • Complete detailed daily reports documenting manpower, equipment usage, production quantities, and site conditions.
  • Maintain schedule adherence and proactively identify delays or production risks.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, foremen, and field leadership to ensure efficient workflow and sequencing of work.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct and lead nightly safety meetings, hazard assessments, and field coordination meetings.
  • Serve as the primary on-site decision-maker for night operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, earthwork, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience supervising large field operations with 50+ employees.
  • Strong knowledge of dewatering systems, including large-diameter pump operations.
  • Experience with soil processing, fill placement, and earthwork production activities.
  • Knowledge of density and moisture testing using nuclear gauge equipment.
  • Familiarity with drainage blankets, pipe installation, and underground utility work.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and schedule-driven operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong documentation skills, including daily reporting and production tracking.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
