Responsibilities:
- Participate in selection committees as a voting member; evaluate contract proposals and procurement documents, process Small Business Enterprise (SBE) reviews, conduct contract compliance and monitoring, SBE analysis, contract closeouts, contract specific goal setting, site visits, provide support for various routine and administrative tasks, and monitor adherence to the district’s SBE policy.
- Support and recommend the development of SBE related marketing initiatives, newsletters, literature, advertisements, social media, and publicity announcements.
- Coordinate, implement, and attend pre-bid meetings, workshops, conferences, and procurement expos designed to educate minority and women-owned businesses and internal district staff.
- Provide SBE outreach, support, advocacy, training, reports, and philanthropic support for Dallas ISD students.
- Disseminate upcoming business opportunities, SBE communications, SBE subcontractor listings – via SBE app, website, electronic notification, email, publicity advertisements, etc.
- Utilize technology to enhance the department’s processes and procedures. Maintain documentation electronically.
- Develop and execute strategies designed to maximize the participation of SBE businesses, in a legal and meaningful way, in all phases of the district’s purchasing and contracting activities.
- Cultivate and promote synergy between district staff, SBE businesses and key district stakeholders.
- Create and maintain strategic partnerships with the contractor associations, chambers of commerce, SBE advocacy organizations, technical assistance centers, ISDs, governmental entities, to disseminate SBE information to their membership and coordinate strategies designed to increase SBE participation.
- Keep abreast of technical, legislative, and professional trends and developments affecting SBE programs and disseminate information to appropriate district personnel.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university required in Business, Public Administration, Management, or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of direct experience work to consult and/or manage small businesses.
- Strong organizational, public relations, event management, planning, and problem solving/investigative skills.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and relationship skills with an emphasis on customer service.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and to positively engage staff and the community.
- Knowledge and experience in business operations, procurement, construction and/or technical contract assistance to small owned and operated businesses.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional and web based technical platforms.
Compensation:
Salary range: $55,000 - $65,000/yearly (dependent on years of experience, competency, travel requirements)
